Part-Time Sales Representative
Commission-Based with Full-Time Growth Potential
About Us
We're an independent literary and pop-culture magazine dedicated to amplifying the voices of indie authors, poets, illustrators, and graphic novelists. Our mission is to create a platform where emerging creative talent can share their stories with readers who value authentic, independent publishing.
The Opportunity
We're seeking a motivated sales professional who is passionate about independent publishing and wants to grow with our magazine. This is a commission-based role that offers significant earning potential and the opportunity to transition into a full-time salaried position as our circulation grows.
What You'll Do
As our Sales Representative, you'll be responsible for driving magazine sales through various channels.
This includes building relationships with independent bookstores, coffee shops, universities, and other venues that align with our literary mission.
You'll also explore digital sales opportunities and develop creative strategies to reach readers who support indie publishing. Your role will be crucial in expanding our reach and bringing compelling stories to a wider audience.
You will also work directly with our graphic designer and editors to create a strategic sales plan for your sale structure.
Compensation & Growth Path
While this position is commission-only, we are offering a generous 40% commission on every physical magazine sale you generate. As our sales volume increases and becomes sustainable, this role will transition to a full-time salaried position with compensation based on your experience and industry-standard pay rates for publishing sales professionals.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone with sales experience who genuinely connects with independent publishing and literary culture. You should be comfortable working independently, setting your own schedule, and building relationships within creative communities. Strong communication skills, self-motivation, and a passion for supporting indie creators are essential. This is a great opportunity for someone transitioning to the publishing industry.
Equal Opportunity Statement
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse team. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, including those who are formerly incarcerated, and do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
